I was once accused of being a heretic. At the time I thought this was rather an obscure and strong accusation to be made against me, and quite surprised. However, after a few moments, I found that my feelings had changed, and that instead, I was rather flattered, as it is not the usual case to be given such a noble title during a quite ordinary debate in the office.
As a child I always questioned everything around me, to the annoyance of most adults. And as I grew and accumulated my own thoughts about the world, I found that my appetite for answers only expanded to fill the ever growing void. Science was the first to bear my un-quenching thirst for answers, with questions such as "Where did life come from miss?", and "What is heavy water sir?"
Most teachers are not equipped for such outbursts in class, as their day and curriculum is clearly laid out before them in a book when they enter. Yet one always remembers the real teachers, the ones that make an effort to help, and aide their pupils in enlightenment. They live forever in our hearts as true teachers, and we never lower our respect for them.
see... again, wise words, but wholly unacceptable I’m afraid. One must continually strive for the truth, unto the last breath and brain cell. Who knows, you may suddenly find the truth at any moment, be it through deep thought or meditation or maybe even divine intervention.
The truth may well be the same for all of us, as some popular philosophies and religious beliefs would have it, yet it may just as well be different for each of us, a personal truth that only manifests itself when we have reached a self awareness and understanding of our self, our true being.
This is a religious truth, (for want of a better terminology), and a truth that only we can find for ourselves. We may take guidance on our quest, or we may come to some kind of truth on our own. A philosophy derived from examining the world around us, or looking inward farther and farther until there are no preconceptions, or external interference, or even thoughts.
Peace and Love.
